What a brilliant museum! Fun the outside in : great accessibility for disabled visitors (one of my group is one such) from accessible parking to an entrance very close to that (it is surprising how many places neglect that point), through to access to all the exhibition, on every level, even where it is obvious that the old buildings have made this difficult. Great exhibits well displayed and well annotated, and this place is packed with things to look at. Many exhibits explicitly marked as being for you to touch, and that is a great experience as well. There is a small friendly cafe on the upper floor, with little space and hence relatively few options in some reflects, but friendly just the same. There are places to sit down throughout. There are volunteer led tours. There are guides and maps. A great selection of things to see and no drawbacks.
Fun place to go with kids, possible to have picnic in front the main building. Wheelchair and pushchair entrance from the right side. The Pitt Rivers museum was bit challenging with pushchair, busy elevators and narrow space. Also perhaps bit too much for a toddler.
If you're not studying there nor live there, park your car at the designated roadside public parking, and walk. Each site is a good sightseeing and photo worthy. There are many shops selling Harry Potter merchandises, cafes and nearby groceries and cemetery in the middle of a road. It was a great visit.
A must for anyone who enjoyed Jurassic Park! Dinosaurs (and lots of other exhibits) in a beautiful Victorian building... What a wonderful way to pass a few hours.
Loved it! The quality and detail absolutely brilliant. Free to enter but they welcome donations. There is a area for kids to play and learn. The museum offers free colouring and drawing for kids. There is a cafe, toilets and changing facilities for babies. There is parking near by within walking distance which has to be paid for. You can expect to spend about one and half hours to two hours of you want a slow walk to take in everything you see. Well recommend to educate children.
