Poor customer service, apparently customer are only a nuisance that they have to deal with. Booked and paid a car online and travelled all the way to to the other end of the city to hear "we couldnt get a car for you, contact customer service for refund" No apologies or anything. Im really sorry herz oxford that i tried to use your services and interupted the Flow of your day, won't happen again.
Rented a passenger van to take my family to air port, the van was new, very clan, very nice Mercedes, for a very cheep price, I paid 36 for a day rent (maybe there was some discount) the stuff from the branch were nice polite and flexible, Down side: Found difficulties to get in touch via telephone call, also is not a local landline number so yo need to pay extra for the call
Prepaid for a van, couldn't return the van on time, telephoned 15 times from two numbers over an hour before closure to extend the rental, person on the other end put the phone down multiple times. Had to call the call centre 4 times, was put through to the Nottingham branch who said they could extend my rental. I return the van at the agreed time (with Nottingham) back at Osney Mead. I was charged an extra 150 pounds with no explanation. I have phoned them 3 times where the man on the other end promises to issue a refund and phone me back. They never phone back. Still waiting for a refund (three months later), and it is always being dealt with "tomorrow". Come September I take the initiative to call the call centre to open a dispute. I come away being told I "should have checked the small print". Great customer service. Don't bother with this company, they won't voluntarily tell you about hidden charges until after they take your money.
No problems with getting the car. Exactly as described with easy checkout. They explained everything I needed to know as I am not from around here and our cars have everything on the other side. 1 point off for the car only being 80% full of petrol and the agent stated he would put that in the rental note, and failed to do so.
I was very pleased with every aspect of my experience with this Hertz branch. The staff were very pleasant and prompt in both checking me in and getting me out. The car I had pre-selected was clean and ready for me when I arrived. They had no hidden fees or costs nor did they aggressively up-sell me not needed insurance coverages. They even arranged a taxi for my wife and I to get back to the train station after we returned the car. Just be aware that they are about a mile from the train station, a short flat walk or a quick taxi ride away.
