I have had a dreadful experience with this bike shop. For the third time in two weeks, I've brought my bike back in to have a recurring flat repaired. Only after the third time of bringing it in did they notice there was a piece of glass in the tread which is why the tube keeps going flat. I brought my bike in first thing on all the days as I'm highly dependent on it, called during the day to check if it's ready, and again at 5:12 to see if I could pick it up and make it home, but they packed it away early behind a pile of other bikes (the shop closes at 5:30) so say I can't have my bike. I cannot believe how rude the person I spoke with over the phone was. So rude in fact that he hung up on me. Avoid coming to this shop if you have any alternative option at all.
The Walton Street Cycles store recently went through a renovation and has a modern look and feel. Their bikes are from renown brands. Their comparative disadvantage are uncompetitive prices for the servicing bikes. I had tolerates these for years, but the staff is of the resolute type that all too often put profits before relationships. It is the unhelpful attitude of staff that ruins the convenient location and beautiful aestetics of the shop. Two stars nevertheless for making me go six years on the same bike.
Popped in the other day for some advice from the mechanic after a scumbag bent my frame whilst trying to steal my bike. I was met by a younger lad outside the shop who was great (keep hold of him) he invited me inside, took my bike from me and wheeled it in to two super friendly guys working in the workshop, they were keen to talk bikes, all very knowledgeable and obvious bike nerds like me. They gave me the advice I needed and that was that. Four stars only because they didn't have the tool I also needed in stock, overall a great bike shop! Recommended.
Ran by with what I thought was a dodgy bake, which was a misaligned wheel! The shop team kindly helped resolve the issue, no charge and got my single speed on the go again. Old fashioned quality service taking the long term view. I will be back to get some consumables when required and will recommend people to place their custom there when they can, unlike other shops in the city who want some complex booking in process, which just undermines the experience. Many thanks, and much appreciated.
Having worked at some bike shops myself, I know how hard it is to get good reviews from customers who are happy with the service. Usually, only when something goes wrong, people tend to write bad reviews.It was my first time at Walton but, working locally, I wanted them to repair my Brompton. Had some issues and also needed some components. The service was fairly good, and we were able to maintain an engaging conversation. The guys are knowledgeable and they know their stuff.Curious the fact that they still do everything by paper, and barely have technology working for them. Good old stuff. As long as it works, no complains!!! :-)Picked up my bike later that week and paid a fairly 55. Not cheap, but, hey, if I wanted cheap, I would have done it myself! You pay for a service! All in all a good service and I would recommend the shop. I know how hard it is these days to maintain a bike shop open!
